M&M ROSES – ROSES FROM
BULK SALES FOR FUNDRAISING OR
DISTRIBUTION,
BY SYNAGOGUES AND OTHER GROUPS
We have made a couple of changes in our procedures, so please read through this
even if you have seen it before.
The upcoming events are Purim, Rosh Chodesh Nissan, Pesach, Israel Independence day, and Shavuot.
Here are the general guidelines for what is required to run a fundraising sale, or distribution of “ROSES FROM ISRAEL” from M&M Roses
Your group advertises and takes orders for roses. You can offer red, pink,
yellow, or white, or a mixed dozen, which consists of 2-4 colors in one bunch.
We grow, and can supply red , pink, white, and yellow roses, in addition to our Circus variety, which is yellow with red tipped petals. The Circus variety is very popular, and usually in short supply. For most dates we must receive your order at least 21 days before the date of delivery.
SUPPLY AND SUBSTITUTIONS
For peak holiday orders, (Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving, Mother’s day, Pesach) we strongly suggest that you offer the “mixed” bunches. These have proven to be very popular and make it easier for you to take and distribute the orders, and easier for us to prepare and ship them.
In addition, for these peak periods, the stem length will vary between just under 17 inches to just over 18 inches. These stem lengths refer to the length after you cut the dry end of the stem when the roses arrive, as described in the next section.
We cannot necessarily guarantee which red, pink, white or yellow rose you will receive. We try to fill your order as you have requested, however our greenhouses can not always meet the demand of any one variety or color. Make sure that people realize there may be some substitution and they may not get the color they requested. If your order is for a peak season, there may be more color substituting than if you order for a day which is not heavily in demand. At peak holiday periods, we may not be able to guarantee more than 25% of your total order, of any one particular color which is in demand at that time. The Circus variety is almost always in short supply.
We will supply roses which have stems between 17.75 and 18.5 inches long. When they arrive, you must cut about 1 inch off the stems to allow them to take up water.
SHIPPING AND HANDLING UPON ARRIVAL
We pack each dozen individually wrapped in our colorful cellophane sleeve and wrapped in corrugated cardboard to protect them during shipment. We send the entire quantity to one address. We ship with FedEx Standard Overnight service which should arrive by 3. PM in the afternoon to most zipcodes. The roses should be ordered to arrive the day before you want to distribute them. When the roses arrive you must open the carton, cut the stems, and put the bunches in plastic buckets of HOT water with some flower food (which we supply), until the day of distribution. The water in the buckets should be very hot tap water. The roses stay in this water until distribution.
The cutting of the stems, and placing the bunches in very hot water is crucial to the success of the project. (The addition of the rose food (M’shaper 6) at this stage is optional. You must not introduce any shortcuts at this stage. The main cause of premature wilting of roses is air in the stems. If you don’t get the air out of the stems when the roses arrive, the chances of having a problem is greatly increased. Our “care” sheet, included with every dozen, also instructs the individuals who receive the roses to re-cut the stems every couple of days, or sooner if there is any sign of premature wilting.
Handling the roses is not difficult, but it does take a bit of co-ordination
and preparation.
Instructions for caring for the roses when
they arrive can be seen at Preparations
.
Most groups use the youth to help, and a good time is had by all.
We strongly suggest receiving the roses on the day before distribution to allow for enough time to prepare the roses, and allow them to recover from their journey. Overnight should be sufficient. You can see many occasions and the deadline for placing an order posted on our webpage, Deadlines
PRICE AND PAYMENT
The cost of our roses is constant, year round. We sell for $13 per dozen for orders of 30 dozen or more, including all delivery costs. You can sell them to your members for what you will. We know that $18-$20 is the usual range. The difference is yours for the synagogue, the school, or Israel, or any cause of your choice.
Due to rising delivery costs, we are now scheduling afternoon deliveries. If you must have a morning delivery, we must charge an additional $7 per carton for
We accept payment by credit card through our secure server on our website, or by special arrangement, by check. Orders must be prepaid to insure delivery.
DEADLINES FOR ORDERING
For “regular” events 7-10 days prior notice is normally sufficient. For holidays or other peak dates, we need to receive your order at least 21days in advance of delivery. You can see our latest, up to date deadline schedule at Deadlines
We haven’t entered every possible date, but the pattern is set above. For Shabatot M’vorchim, 14 days should be enough. For Holidays, 21 days is the minimum advance notice. If the particular date you are interested in does not appear, please let us know.
Some families or small groups may want to order roses to be delivered directly to their homes, for a holiday or for a family simcha. We deliver smaller quantities at different prices. Full details are on our website at www.israelrose.com.
